This research work was done to expand knowledge about outside sprayed-on cellulose insulation application focusing on mechanical and physical properties respectively.

The study concentrates on describing the reasons behind the slow uptake of space-saving, densified forms of housing, and explains the dominant preference for detached single-family homes. However, it goes beyond simply describing the decisive motives for choices of housing. The study analyses the determining factors and the basic conditions under which these motives come or came into being. Based on this analysis, alternatives will be proposed and evaluated with regard to their effectiveness and feasibility.

The aim of this project was to develop specifications for biomass heating systems for buildings with a low energy demand. The focus was on multi-family residential buildings and office buildings.

In the on hand project an adsorber/desorber for a solar operated/district heating operated one-level adsorption chiller with water as cooling agent and silica gel as adsorbent agent will be planned for a low range of performance (2 to 50 kW refrigerating capacity). It will be implemented as a test-/pilot plant. Hence these two substances are an alternative to the HFCKW´s cooling agents that are used nowadays.

Development of a pragmatic assessment scheme applicable to building practice for the impact of building products on human health

Development of a new kind of spray-on and plastered noise absorber on the basis of cellulose from recycled paper. The absorber system preferably attenuates the low-frequency range, that can usually only be controlled with rather complex systems, and can also be used where conventional absorbers could cause problems due to impermissible water vapour condensation.

The objective of this project is to examine the ability of magnesite bonded wood wool panels as an inside thermal insulation system, especially for houses with historical facades and to acquire starting points for further development of the products and components being used. Parallel to the data which will be calculated in a theoretical FEM-model, a field trial will be carried out to prove the influence on the inside room climate. In addition the sustainability of the system will be analysed.

Establishing a "Building of tomorrow" knowledge transfer centre Charinthia including infrastructure (Library) for all actors of the building sector. Conference and workshop with key actors (24.11.2006) taking place in Technologiepark Villach.

The objective of this project is to explore mechanical insulant-fixing connections. Unconventional but concrete fixing techniques are the focus of the investigation. The use of insulants as "lost" casing will also be studied in depth.
