Köflach klimaneutral - Stadt mit fossiler Geschichte und klimaneutraler Zukunft
Für die Stadt Köflach stand in den letzten Jahrzehnten der Strukturwandel vom früher prägenden Braunkohleabbau zu einer nachhaltigen Zukunft im Vordergrund. Aufbauend darauf bietet Köflach gute Voraussetzungen als attraktiver Wohnstandort. Der nachhaltige Wandel der Stadt kann mit konsequenten Maßnahmen in Richtung klimawandelangepassten Wohnen und klimaneutraler Energieversorgung, bei gleichzeitiger Stärkung der überregional bekannten touristischen Ausflugsziele, vorangetrieben werden.

Die Erstellung eines Klimaneutralitätsfahrplanes bis 2040 versteht die Stadt als Chance, um bestehende Nutzungskonflikte zu lösen. Der Umsetzungsplan soll partizipativ mit kurz-, mittel- und langfristigen Lösungsansätzen entwickelt werden.

Die Stadtgemeinde Deutschlandsberg setzt sich das Ziel, bis 2040 klimaneutral zu werden, und erarbeitet dazu einen Klimaneutralitätsfahrplan, der eine klimawandelangepasste Entwicklung der Stadt gewährleistet. Dieser Plan soll auch das zu erwartende Bevölkerungswachstum, bedingt durch die Inbetriebnahme der Koralmbahn Ende 2025, mit einer weiterhin hohen Lebensqualität verbinden.

Klosterneuburg ist zwischen Wienerwald und Donauauen gelegen, eine Stadt mit hohem Anteil an Grün- und Erholungsraum bei gleichzeitiger Nähe zu Wien. Mit dieser Lage bietet Klosterneuburg ein interessantes Fallbeispiel zur Erforschung von Klimaneutralität – insbesondere in den Bereichen CO₂-emissionsfreier Pendlerverkehr, klimafreundliche Dienstleistungen und CO₂-Speicherung durch Forstwirtschaft.

Along with Rome, Barcelona, Laibach and other European cities, the Carinthian state capital has set itself the goal of being climate neutral by 2030. A project that is not utopia, but quite realistic! An essential component and backbone of this mission is the Austrian Pioneer Cities Program.

With the mission climate neutral cities the Federal Ministry of Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI, previously: BMK) has set a focus that will accelerate the achievement of climate and energy goals through research, technology and innovation. In recent decades, the city of Köflach has focused on structural change, moving away from the lignite mining that used to characterise the town and towards a sustainable future. Building on this, Köflach offers good conditions as an attractive residential location. The sustainable transformation of the town can be driven forward with consistent measures towards climate change-adapted living and climate-neutral energy supply, while at the same time strengthening the nationally recognised tourist destinations.

The city of Deutschlandsberg has set itself the goal of becoming climate-neutral by 2040 and is developing a climate neutrality roadmap to ensure climate-resilient urban development. This plan is also intended to combine the expected population growth, due to the commissioning of the Koralm railway at the end of 2025, while maintaining a high quality of life.
