IEA 4E EDNA: Electronic Devices and Networks Annex (Working period 2019 - 2021)
By 2030, the number of network-connected electronic devices worldwide is expected to exceed 100 billion, resulting in significant consequences for global energy consumption. The IEA 4E Electronic Devices and Networks Annex - EDNA therefore aims to develop policy recommendations to promote the energy efficiency of network-connected devices, and make those project results available to key stakeholders such as policy makers and product developers in the form of reports, policy briefs and tools.
IEA FBC Implementing Agreement Fluidized Bed Conversion (working period 2020 - 2023)
The aim of the project is to continue to further develop the internationally very well accepted participation of Austria in the information network of the IEA Fluidized Bed Conversion (FBC) Technology Collaboration Programme (TCP) to optimize fluidized bed conversion of fuels applied to clean energy production (heat and power). All stakeholders will be included on a national as well as on a global level.
IEA HPT Annex 55: Comfort and Climate Box – Speeding up market development for integrating heat pumps and storage packages
In the IEA HPT Annex 55, heat pumps with integrated thermal/electrical storage systems for existing buildings that are as close to the market as possible were developed. Furthermore, measures to accelerate market development have been worked out.
IEA AFC Annex 33: Stationary Applications (Working period 2019 - 2022)
The future energy system will be strongly characterized by decentralized and renewable power generation. The use of fuel cells (FCs) can contribute to energy and environmental policy objectives. This project investigated whether a market transition from successful international demonstration plants to commercial plants is possible. The potential applications of fuel cells in the building sector and across energy communities and climate-neutral neighbourhoods were investigated.
IEA-ISGAN Annex 2: Smart Grid Case Studies (Working period 2019 - 2023)
The main objective of this working group of the International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN) is to provide all relevant stakeholders with access to detailed information on the current status of smart grid pilot and demonstration projects.
IEA HPT Annex 56: Digitalization and Internet of Things for Heat Pumps
As digitalization progresses, heat pumps are becoming part of the Internet of Things (IoT). In this project, the opportunities and challenges of IoT-capable heat pumps for the use in households, commercial enterprises and industrial applications will be investigated. The aim of the project is to provide a structured overview of IoT-enabled heat pumps.
IEA Wind Task 27: Small Wind Turbines in High Turbulence Sites (working period 2018 - 2019)
By participating in the IEA Wind Task 27, a number of goals could be achieved, including the development of a site assessment scheme for wind turbines in areas with high turbulence intensities, the further development of the IEC 61400 standard, the participation in the “Compendium of IEA Wind TCP Task 27 case studies “And the update of the “Small Wind Power Report 2018” as well as activities such as holding the event “Small Wind Power Conference” in Austria.
