Thermal Energy Storage Workshop 2026

The Thermal Energy Storage (TES) Workshop is a flagship annual event, bridging the gap between production and demand and providing a space to exchange knowledge, spark dialogue, and strengthen collaborations in thermal energy storage.

Organizer

The workshop is organized by the Gemini Centre for Thermal Energy Storage and hosted by SINTEF Energy Research. The workshop is also supported by the EERA Joint Programme on Energy Storage, which sponsors the poster award and contributes to the event activities.

Content Description

The TES Workshop returns to Trondheim on 9–10 December 2026 and will follow the success of previous editions. The workshop continues as an international arena for discussing the latest developments in TES technologies, industrial implementation, system integration, and energy flexibility.  

The programme will include:

  • Technical and scientific presentations
  • Industrial case studies and technology showcases
  • Interactive panel debates
  • A poster session with award for best poster
  • Networking dinner connecting research and industry.

The 2026 edition will be closely connected to the IEA Tasks on Materials and Components for Thermal Energy Storage, whose expert meeting will take place in Trondheim on 7–8 December.

Target Audience

Researchers, industry, and innovation stakeholders working to accelerate the deployment of thermal energy storage solutions for flexible and decarbonized energy systems.

Participant Information

The event will be held fully onsite at SINTEF's Energy Building in Trondheim, with free registration.
