GoBiGas: An Industry Relevant State-of-the-Art Reference for Advanced Biofuel Production via Gasification
Organizer
IEA Technology Collaboration Programme (TCP) Bioenergy
Content Description
The GoBiGas-plant, a 20 MW biomethane facility (6 ton dry woody biomass feedstock per hour), was constructed by internationally leading multinational companies (Valmet, Haldor Topsoe, Jacobs) and is technically built so that it could go from demonstration to commercial operation. Thus it could provide a state-of-the-art reference for advanced biofuel production.
An extensive research program, including the erection of a 0.4-0.8 ton/hour dry woody feedstock dual bed gasifier, was launched and coordinated from Chalmers University of Technology to support the demonstration.
The outcome from the demonstration is that the technology is ready for large scale deployment, applying commercially mature components, for which the production cost will be in the range of 55 €-cent per litre gasoline equivalent (feedstock 35% of cost) at the current feedstock price of woody biomass in the region.
The successful demonstration was finalized at the end of March this year (2018) and the plant is at present conserved to be able to be recommissioned if the right market conditions arise.
The webinar will be presented by Henrik Thunman and Freddy Tengberg and moderated by Kevin Whitty.
