IEA Bioenergy Task 39 - Webinar: Advanced Biofuels for Transport Decarbonization: Technology pathways, Commercial Progress and Global Perspectives

30. June 2026, 13:00 -14:30 CEST
Online, AT

This webinar explores how advanced biofuels can enhance energy security and support transport decarbonization amid growing geopolitical and energy market uncertainties.

Organizer

IEA Bioenergy Task 39

Content Description

Drawing on the work of IEA Bioenergy Task 39 (Biofuels to Decarbonize Transport), this webinar will cover advanced biofuel technologies, commercialization trends, cellulosic ethanol, biomethane production from residues and wastes in Brazil, and insights from the Task 39 facilities database.

In a rapidly changing geopolitical landscape, energy security and resilience have become central drivers of the transition to sustainable transport fuels. Recent disruptions in global energy markets and continued volatility in crude oil supply and prices have highlighted the strategic importance of diversifying fuel sources and reducing dependence on fossil resources.

Beyond technology and market developments, the webinar will examine how the Task 39 facilities database can provide valuable insights into the current state of advanced biofuel production and its potential contribution to reducing dependence on fossil fuels.

Participants will gain a better understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with expanding both established and emerging biofuel pathways to support transport decarbonization and strengthen energy security.
