IEA Bioenergy Webinar: Trends and drivers in alternative thermal conversion of waste
Organizer
IEA Bioenergy is an organisation set up in 1978 by the International Energy Agency (IEA) with the aim of improving cooperation and information exchange between countries that have national programmes in bioenergy research, development and deployment.
Content Description
There is increased interest in advanced thermal conversion of waste. The main reasons are increased perception of greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution resulting from untreated waste.
As an alternative to waste incineration, conversion options such as waste pyrolysis, waste gasification, and co-processing of biomass and waste aim at the production of energy carriers such as liquid fuels and higher value chemicals. By this, these waste options contribute to the climate and environmental goals.
On the occasion of the webinar we will launch a report by IEA Bioenergy Task 36 aimed at examining the progress in the application of these technologies, the challenges that are being faced and the status of the technologies.
