Conference: Challenges of Biomass Combustion

13. - 14. November 2013
Vattenfall Power Plant Klingenberg
Köpenicker Chaussee 42 - 45, Berlin, DE

IEA-Task 32 supports the VGB Biomass Working Group in the organisation of the expert conference "Challenges in Biomass Combustion".
The conference covers practical experiences and mitigations options for addressing the key operational challenges, varying from ash depositon to fire safety.

Organizer

VGB Biomass Working Group and
IEA Bioenergy Task 32 "Biomass Combustion and Cofiring"

Content Description

The main focus of the conference is set on operational experiences and large scale biomass power plants. Projects for large scale conversion as well as new built units will be presented.

The high temperature chlorine corrosion mechanisms, related damage symptoms and countermeasures will be explained. Finally a comprehensive overview over fire and explosion prevention in practice will be given.

Topics

  • Large scale biomass power plants, conversion and operational experiences
  • High temperature chlorine corrosion and operational experiences with countermeasures
  • Fire and explosion prevention in practice
  • Utilization of Biomass Ash
