Innovations for cool urban oases

Given their consumption of energy and other resources and their considerable emission of pollutants, cities contribute significantly to climate change.

At the same time they are the places hardest hit by its effects. Alongside air pollution, dust and noise, rising temperatures and extreme weather events such as heavy rain in cities impair the health of the inhabitants and their quality of life.

To counteract these tendencies, pioneering approaches and technologies for greening buildings and implementation of green open spaces in cities are being researched and set into practice in Austria.
