IEA EBC Annex 97 / Cities Task 5 - Sustainable Cooling in Cities Seminar Series: Upcoming session with Milad Heiranipour

08. July 2026
Online, Wien, AT

The Seminar Series is a biweekly online forum where project participants share their research, experiences, and practical approaches related to sustainable cooling and climate adaptation in cities. The upcoming session features Milad Heiranipour presenting "A Performance-Based Methodology for Designing Climate-Adaptive, Heat-Resilient Building Envelopes under Deep Uncertainty".

Organizer

The seminar series is hosted by the Institute of Building Research & Innovation as part of the project "IEA EBC Annex 97 / Cities Task 5: Sustainable Cooling in Cities".

Content Description

Each session explores a different topic and offers opportunities for discussion and knowledge exchange.

This seminar focuses on the interaction between urban heat islands, building electrification, heat rejection from cooling systems, and the transition from individual air-source systems toward district and fifth-generation cooling networks. The discussion will also explore how urban morphology and density constraints influence the feasibility and performance of sustainable cooling strategies based on Brussels European Quarter developments.

Target Audience

The seminar series is open to project participants, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, students, and anyone interested in sustainable cooling, urban climate adaptation, and related topics. Participants from all disciplines and backgrounds are welcome.
