NIM Industry Insights Series - Carbon Shift: Redefining Industry Through CCUS

21. May 2025, 11:00 – 13:15 CEST
Online, AT

The event will spotlight the transformative role of Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) in industrial decarbonisation and explore current progress, strategic funding opportunities, and collaborative projects from across Europe.

Organizer

  • NIM - The Net-Zero Industries Mission
  • CETPartnership

Content Description

Bold ideas. Real impact. A new era of carbon innovation.

Heavy industries play a vital role in global economies – but they are also among the most challenging sectors to decarbonise. Carbon Capture, Utilisation is emerging as a key enabler for reducing industrial emissions and achieving net-zero goals. Scaling up CCUS solutions is now critical to redefining the future of industry.

The session will feature

  • A live discussion with project leads, funders, and industry stakeholders to explore how we can accelerate innovation and implementation in carbon-intensive sectors.
  • Expert keynotes on the role of CCUS in industrial transformation and insights into the CETPartnership and the upcoming Joint Call 2025.
  • Project showcases including demo and R&D initiatives supported by CETP and the Net-Zero Industries Mission.

NIM - The Net-Zero Industries Mission

The Net-Zero Industries Mission launched in 2022 and is the first ever global innovation coalition with the goal of developing and demonstrating cost-competitive solutions to create a net-zero industries future. The Mission is led by Austria and Australia, in collaboration with Canada, China, the European Commission, Finland, Germany, the Republic of Korea, the UK, and will deliver at least 50 large-scale demonstration projects around the world by 2030.

Since its launch, the Mission has released an innovation roadmap titled 'Towards Net-Zero Industries', as well as the recent Action Plan which outlines the actions needed to reach Mission goals.

The NIM unveiled its first Country Insight Report at CEM15/MI-9 in October 2024. The report analyses the hard-to-abate industries in the mission’s core member nations, offering insights into each country’s approach to achieving net-zero in key industrial sectors. This report highlights industry emissions data, economic figures, policies, R&D strategies, funding programs, and flagship projects, providing a crucial resource for understanding global efforts to transform industries and tackle climate challenges.

CETPartnership

CETPartnership is a strategic and collaborative initiative that brings together national and regional research, development, and innovation programs from Europe and Beyond.

Its mission is to accelerate the energy transition and support the implementation of the European Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan). To achieve this, the partnership organises an annual Joint Call for project proposals, offering funding for innovative projects that address energy challenges.

CETPartnership fosters strong cooperation, encouraging experts from all regions to collaborate and find efficient, clean and sustainable energy solutions.
