Designing Synergies. Spatial and Energetic Transformation Scenarios for Small Towns and Municipalities Using the Example of the Wagram Region (Lower Austria).
An interdisciplinary exploratory project that synergistically analyses strategies for the activation of vacant buildings and the potential for the formation of small-scale energy communities. The starting point is student projects from the Institute of Architecture and Design, TU Wien, for four municipalities in the Wagram region. On this basis, an interdisciplinary team of experts is developing a concept for a synergy cluster focussing on spatial energy planning, building physics, the circular economy and social innovation.

ReSpace is developing an AI-based model for identifying, categorizing, and activating sealed areas. Existing data sources (aerial and satellite images, mobile network data, land registry entries) are integrated and enhanced with dynamic analysis to derive evidence-based recommendations for action.
RaumCoop 2.0 - Space Cooperative, a systematic operational model for activating unused or underutilized spaces.
The RaumCoop organizes the sharing of spaces, mobilizes underutilized spaces for non-residential purposes in the ground floor area, and makes them available for temporary use at affordable conditions. The goal of the project is to establish this non-profit organization.
Climate-School-Life - Preparation of the climate-neutral educational campus in Gratwein-Straßengel
The project aims to start the transformation process of the educational campus of the market town of Gratwein-Straßengel into climate-neutrality. The need for the expansion and modernisation of the elementary school forms the central part of this development. The project provides an integrated district concept for the four central infrastructure topics of the project: urban development, architecture, mobility and energy. Participation processes of the population and innovative financing models are further components of the exploration.
Urban consolidation Lehen - Subproject 2: Development - intelligent E-Monitoring
In the oppositional subproject 2 technical and organisational requirements for the transformation of the innovative Smart Metering-concept will be developed. Through the connection of the application of Smart Metering with an active integration of the inhabitants over mutual communication the concept, which is planned for the key project Urban Consolidation Lehen stands out of other comparable antedated activities.

An integrated technical energy plus office concept without additional building costs demonstrates the feasibility of such projects instancing a concrete office project with 50.000 m² floor area in Vienna with economical cost consideration.
aspern Vienna´s Urban Lakeside - subproject 6b: Monitoring of Energy Consumption in Demonstration Buildings in Seestadt Aspern
The project deals wtih the energy consumption monitoring of demonstration buildings, which are erected within the framework of the landmark project "aspern+". As both, office/manufacturing as well as residential buildings will be constructed, these different user groups will have to be considered. The derivation of the concepts will be done in accordance of the specific needs of the individual demonstration buildings.

Aim of the project was a better understanding and modeling of effects of user behavior on energy performance in office and service buildings, built with lowest energy building and plus-energy building techniques. Development of a cost-benefit-tool which reaches beyond a pure cost approach and also recognizes the benefits of a building for its inhabitants and users. The inclusion of benefits is based on existing evaluation systems, especially on the Austrian building evaluation system TQB - Total Quality Building, which has been revised in 2009.
