IEA UsersTCP: “Empowering all” Gender in policy and implementation for achieving transitions to sustainable energy
The aim of the project is to develop country-specific recommendations for integrative energy strategies and thus support their implementation. In order to develop recommendations for policy interventions as well as for technology developments, the following activities are planned:
- Collection and analysis of studies and best practices on gender & energy
- Piloting and adapting an assessment tool to compare country-specific energy policies in terms of gender awareness.
- Preparation of a factsheet on inclusive technology development
- Knowledge exchange with the IEA Clean Energy, Education and Empowerment (C3E) TCP
For the Austrian contribution, existing studies and research on gender & energy are collected and analysed. In addition to scientific findings, best practice examples of measures in the public sector will be collected. Furthermore the piloting and adaptation of an evaluation tool for the comparison of national energy policies with regard to gender aspects will be supported. Finally, the project aims at the exchange of experience and knowledge with the international research team and the "IEA Clean Energy, Education and Empowerment (C3E) TCP".
The state of gender research in connection with the energy transition will be surveyed and analysed on a country-specific basis and the results will be disseminated internationally. Furthermore, barriers to the implementation of integrative energy policy will be examined and an evaluation system will be developed. In addition, good practices are collected and practical implementation proposals for an integrative energy policy will be developed.
