By active participation, Austria’s position and leading role on the forefront of international Smart Grids development has been strengthened.
MOTIVE – Modeling, Optimizing, and technical integration of Vacuum-Glazing-Elements
This project addressed the development of construction details for the implementation of vacuum glazing panels in new windows. In this project such constructions (form of frame, thermal bridges, structural aspects, mounting of glass) were explored via empirical experiments and via simulation. As an outcome, a mock-up was constructed, and the findings were documented in a comprehensive document.
OptoControl - Modern sensor systems for energy conservation in buildings
The necessary efficiency of modern energy-self-sufficient buildings can only be achieved with intelligent control of the key parameters. The main focus of the project is the adaptation of optical sensor concepts for application in building technology. The future goal of the project is to supply the modern energy-plus-house with an appropriate and intelligent control device to minimize energy loss.
LEKOECOS - combined economic-ecological life cycle assessment model
The consumption of ecological and economic resources over the whole life cycle is supposed to be anticipated and optimised in the design process of buildings and refurbishments. A combined life cycle assessment model together with an economic-ecological base element catalogue considering the klima:aktiv criteria was developed based on the structure of the life cycle cost model LEKOS and the ecological valuation tool Ecosoft.
Sunny research! Sustainable building design with high energy performance for a modern commercial building
Commercial buildings of basic to medium standard are hardly ever designed by a high quality of innovative building services engineering. In the project Sunny research! a sustainable building design with high energy performance was developed. The aim was to adapt the aspects of Renewable Energy, thermal comfort and wellness in work.
Development of a "Light Well" for daylight transparent, highly energy-efficient, multi-story buildings
Daylight supply of multi-story buildings with the help of rooflight openings. Reflecting vertical ducts transport light down to the lowermost floor. The idea promises new building structures with daylight transparency and high energy-efficiency that have a minimal demand of artificial light and cooling at optimal comfort.
Possibilities of urban high-rise multi-storey buildings in a timber-frame method with target course eight or more floors
Research of urban high-rise multi-storey buildings in a timber-frame construction method. Fundamental clarification of the feasibility in relation to the supporting structure, fire prevention and security. SWOT analysis as well as economic, ecological research concerning sustainable design.
Biomimetic potentials - Interdisciplinary identification and preparation of innovative biological inspired key technologies for "Plus-energy buildings of the future"
Experts from various branches of industry and research as well as bionics representatives worked out innovative ideas regarding "Key technologies for Plus-Energy-Buildings". The results provide a collection of emergent bionic research potential for the implementation of innovative research in the Austrian building sector.
Energy Plus House Weber - highest energy efficiency in the tension between tradition and modernity
The tension between tradition and modernity is shown and exemplarily solved on the example of the historic farmhouse "vulgo Weber". The object was converted into an energy plus house with an exceptionally holistic approach and also thought as a demonstration object for a broad public through the touristic use of the house.
Bio-R: Applications for treating Cellulosic bodies with supercritical carbon dioxide
The target of this project is the screening of the opportunities, resulting of the combination of treating Cellulosic bodies with supercritical carbon dioxide. In general, the change of the porous structure depending on the way of fiber drying and the opportunity to incorporate active compounds and the development of analytical methods to track them within Cellulosic bodies.
aspern Vienna´s Urban Lakeside subproject 8: Overall Project Management Landmark Project "aspern+"
The Overall Project Management of the "Leitprojekt" includes the handling and supervision of the sub-projects, the reporting to the programme management and additionally the preparation and distribution of relevant results. Beyond that the project management is responsible to highlight possible synergies within other projects and to - if necessary - include these within the next steps.
Build4Climate - Demonstration building with a climate room concept at the Innovation Quarter Lavanttal in Carinthia
Near the Wörthersee in Carinthia a modern open-space research and office building with flexible use is being built on the site of Lakeside Science & Technology Park GmbH. The innovative building will be implemented as a frontrunner with a 'climate room' concept based on thermal component activation and extensive use of renewable energy sources.
BIGMODERN - Subproject 4: Life-cycle cost analysis (LCCA) during the planning process
Creation of technical and organisational preconditions for constructors to integrate life-cycle cost analysis (LCCA) already into the planning process. Furthermore, the findings will be applied within the two demonstration projects of the flagship project BIGMODERN (SP2 and SP3). The publication of fundamental results makes conceptive basics and LCCA-results available for all stakeholders in the real estate industry.
Adjustment of the value chain in the mass-shoe-production to customized production by unitized products and processes
Main topic of the project is the incremental change of business logics in mass shoe production by changing product-push to customer-pull concepts. Results need to integrate the entire supply chain, add value to the brand and its products and contribute to the company's sustainability.
Energy relevant and ecological monitoring studies of demonstration buildings, which were built in the framework of the program "Haus der Zukunft".
Energy relevant and ecological monitoring studies of demonstration buildings, which were built in the framework of the program "Haus der Zukunft". The user acceptance should also be levied and displayed
Building as living lab - Buildings as a living lab for climate-neutral, needs-based and affordable housing
