BONSEI! Optimal use of existing buildings – energy efficient implementation of renovation!
The project BONSEI! would like to support an energy efficient and socially acceptable densification of privately owned residential buildings in urban space and to develop a methodological basis for resource efficient urban areas. The results are used for the conception of an innovative service in order to provide a neutral consulting regarding private densification plans.
Science documentary "Building of Tomorrow" for television
The documentary film for ORF/ 3sat and Bayern alpha-TV presents the concept of the passive house. Fascinating pioneer projects of the Austrian Program on Technologies for Sustainable Development, Sub-Program "Building of Tomorrow", have been filmed over several months. The importance of taking care of ecology and sustainability when constructing houses is demonstrated to a large audience.
The very first reconstruction in Austria of a one-unit house to passive house standard (Model project in Pettenbach/Upper Austria)
The main objective is the unprecedented reconstruction of older one-unit buildings to the standards of passive houses. The reconstruction estates are of the numerous older one-unit houses in Austria. The reconstruction will considerably enhance the convenience of living quarters in the old houses.
Energetic roof including window, PV and thermal solar components as on-roof and façade module - on-roof and façade module
Development of a novel on-roof respectively façade module, which includes a thermal solar component as well as photovoltaics and a skylight. With the serial implementation of this development idea there should be offered for the first time an energetic roof as retrofitting kit for existing buildings.
Exploration of window systems with innovative glass - especially vacuum insulating glass - for building renovation
Exploration of the use of the first fabricable highly insulating vacuum glazing (VG) for highly efficient window systems specifically for the renovation of existing buildings via Verification of the availability and performance of Vacuum Glazing VG worldwide, concepts for structural optimization and thermal simulations of integrated systems, investigation of typical applications and market potential studies and identification of achievable energy savings for single buildings and settlements.
Gründerzeit with future - subproject 5: Documentation and monitoring
The main aim is the documentation and monitoring of the demonstration projects within the scope of the project "Historical buildings of tomorrow" with regard to the technical implementation, investment and operation costs and to the energetic performance. All demonstration projects will be accompanied by an evaluation process regarding occupants' satisfaction and the refurbishment process. Beyond that, legal constraints for innovative refurbishment of historical buildings will be documented and proposals for adaptations of the rental law and refurbishment subsidy schemes will be developed.
PHOTOVOLTAIC WATER Solution
Passive House refurbishment facade with integrated photovoltaic modules for direct, current-based warm water preheating. The GIWOG, an energy-conscious and environmentally and socially oriented client, intends to undertake an energy-related modernisation project, which will further optimise energy consumption to be more efficient at an apartment complex in Graz, main street 302-306. The goal is to lower the energy consumption for heating and hot water from the current level of approximately 135 kWh /m²a to approximately 8 kWh /m²a. The planned measures should correspond with an overall energy consumption reduction of approx. 94 %.
IDsolutions - Solutions for the refurbishment within existing building stock with interior insulation
The refurbishment of existing building stock demands solutions within single units. Interior insulation is a suitable technology. The challenge is to bring multiple demands and requirements together to create optimal solutions. Therefore it's necessary to arrange individual system components to form working model refurbishment solutions. The development of such solutions is the aim of the project. Not only durability and quality is to be ensured, but also user acceptance. Increasing the rate of refurbishments is the overall aim of the project.
e80^3-Buildings - Sub project 5: Monitoring and dissemination
The content of subproject 5 was the analysis of energy- as well as building-biology-related issues for the evaluation and quality management of the demo-project in Kapfenberg, which involves a high-quality refurbishment to a plus energy house within the program "Haus der Zukunft - Building of Tomorrow". Within this process the user acceptance before, during and after the renovation was elevated and this will be processed for upcoming projects. The environmental quality of the building regarding the choice of materials and measures during the construction phase and the subsequent use of the building was assessed with the help of the TQB-planning and evaluation tool.
Product and system development for an inside thermal insulation construction of historical houses using magnesite bonded wood wool panels
The objective of this project is to examine the ability of magnesite bonded wood wool panels as an inside thermal insulation system, especially for houses with historical facades and to acquire starting points for further development of the products and components being used. Parallel to the data which will be calculated in a theoretical FEM-model, a field trial will be carried out to prove the influence on the inside room climate. In addition the sustainability of the system will be analysed.
REGOreal - 100% Renewable Energy Region: Local Energy Common Good Economy in real laboratories for networked energy and mobility cells
In REGOreal, the exploration for a 100% renewable energy region in the area of Retz-Horn-Krems-Tulln (Lower Austria) and Mallnitz (Ktn) is taking place. There are four focus topics: 100 Renewable Energy Communities (REC), 1.000 building renovations, 10.000 energy exporters (in the sense of employees who carry the approach into their private environment) and 100 Mio. km of sustainable mobility with extensive use of IT for the development of local integrated energy systems (IES) to integrate a colorful mix of different actors and objects.
